Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 4 slices bread preferably sourdough or Italian
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
For the Filling
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce

Method
 

Prepare the Sandwich
  1. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread.
  2. On the unbuttered side of two slices, layer the mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, and drizzle with pizza sauce.
  3. Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
Cook the Sandwiches
  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Carefully flip the sandwiches and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
Serve
  1. Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool for a minute.
  2. Cut in half and serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
