Method
Prepare the Base
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Add the M&M's
- Fold in the M&M's until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Bake
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
Cool and Serve
- Once cooled, cut into bars and top with additional M&M's if desired.
- Serve and enjoy your festive cookie bars!
