Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Add flour, eggs, softened butter, and salt to the bowl. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Assemble the Babka
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick.
- Spread the fruit jam evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon over the jam.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side to form a log, then cut the log in half lengthwise.
- Twist the two halves together and place in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the pan and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Babka
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the babka for about 40-45 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Finish and Serve
- Let the babka cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cooled, mix powdered sugar and milk to create a drizzle, and pour it over the top.
- Dust with additional powdered sugar if desired before slicing and serving.

Notes
For a more indulgent treat, consider adding chocolate chips to the jam filling or a sprinkle of nutmeg in the dough.
