Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 1 pound ground beef preferably lean
  • 2 cups gnocchi store-bought or homemade
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 can diced tomatoes 14.5 oz can
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup beef broth or stock
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
For the Garnish
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil chopped

Method
 

Prepare the Base
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef, cooking until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
Cook the Sauce
  1. Stir in the diced tomatoes, beef broth, and Italian seasoning into the beef mixture.
  2. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
Cook the Gnocchi
  1. Meanwhile, in a separate pot, bring salted water to a boil.
  2. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions until they float to the top, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Drain the gnocchi and set aside.
Combine and Serve
  1. Once the sauce has thickened, gently fold in the cooked gnocchi.
  2. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  3. Serve hot, garnished with grated parmesan cheese and fresh basil.
