Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 4 cups sliced apples peeled and cored
  • 1 cup caramel sauce plus extra for drizzling
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
For the Cake Topping
  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans optional

Method
 

Prepare the Base
  1. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and half of the caramel sauce.
  2. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the bottom of the crockpot.
Add Cake Topping
  1. In a separate bowl, mix the yellow cake mix with the melted butter until crumbly.
  2. Sprinkle the cake mix evenly over the apple mixture in the crockpot.
  3. Top with chopped pecans if using.
Cook the Cake
  1. Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook on low for 3 hours, or until the cake is set and the apples are tender.
  2. Check the cake after 2.5 hours to ensure it doesn’t overcook.
Serve
  1. Once cooked, turn off the crockpot and let it cool for 10 minutes.
  2. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce over the top before serving.
  3. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes
