Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/43°C)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh rosemary or thyme (or 1 tbsp dried)
  • ¼ cup pesto or sun-dried tomatoes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast; let sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Create a well in the center, adding the yeast mixture and olive oil; stir until combined.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Spread optional pesto/sun-dried tomatoes, sprinkle cheese and herbs evenly over top, then roll tightly into a log and twist into a wreath shape.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the wreath on parchment-lined baking sheet for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
