Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (unbleached)
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic (minced)

  • 4 tbsp softened butter

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over it and let foam for about 5 minutes.

  3. Fold in minced garlic and herbs thoroughly.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  5. Punch down the dough gently, divide into equal pieces, and shape into balls. Place on a greased baking sheet close together.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Brush with melted butter after removing from the oven.

Keywords: For vegan rolls, substitute regular butter with plant-based butter or olive oil. You can freeze shaped rolls before the second rise; thaw overnight in the fridge before allowing them to rise again.
