  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, cream softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes).
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time along with vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture, alternating with milk—mix gently until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. While cooling, prepare the caramel sauce by melting brown sugar and butter over low heat. Stir in cream until smooth.
