Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • ¾ cup melted butter
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts or pistachios
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup honey (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, sugar, and salt. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough.
  2. Knead: Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about an hour until doubled in size.
  3. Create Filling: While the dough rises, finely chop nuts and mix with cinnamon and melted butter.
  4. Roll Out: Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Spread melted butter followed by the nut mixture evenly on top.
  5. Shape Buns: Roll up the dough tightly from one long end and pinch edges to seal. Cut into equal pieces (about eight) and twist each piece like a pretzel.
  6. Bake: Arrange twisted buns in a greased baking dish. Cover again and let rise for another 30 minutes as you preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for about 25 minutes until golden brown. Drizzle with honey syrup before serving.
