Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. In one bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Combine the wet and dry ingredients and pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  4. Whip heavy cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  5. Prepare cherries; pit if using fresh or drain if jarred.
  6. Layer broken chocolate cake pieces in a serving dish with whipped cream and cherries. Repeat layers until filled.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour before serving.
